I Do NOT recommend using GoDaddy's Domain Name Search tool or domain brokerage services for pre-owned domains, or for using them for your website hosting either. Here's why: I've had 2 different clients who registered their domain names with GoDaddy, and were not notified by GoDaddy when their credit card expired. Someone within GoDaddy's staff, mirrored my clients' websites (so everything seemed fine when visiting the website ) for 60 days, then took over ownership of the domain. My clients did not notice until too late.

At this point, my clients discovered they no longer owned their own busienss domains, but GoDaddy did not respect their verifiyable claim to ownership and they had to pursue a long legal trademark infringement 'case' to prove their rightful ownership. My clients also had to pay LOTS of money to prove the domains were theirs, transfer them back into their accounts, pay the 'theiving' administrator, etc.

Evenually they each received the domain names 'back.' Cost to my client (that GoDaddy and their 'brokerage' arm received) for stealing a customer's domain : OVER $450 and months of headaches.
Word to the wise: do not trust your domain registrar to notify you of your payment method expiring, unless they are a trustworthy company. It is not always in their best interest to do so, especiallyy with a high-value, high SEO domain they'd earn more by owning themselves or holding hostage. Just sayin'

Now, also important to make sure you keep your domain name contact information and credit card up to date. Your hosting can fall (but this still stinks), but as long as you have your domain name, you can recover.
